Well I think there was a conspiracy...but Oswald did the deed first since the conspiracists were positioned on the other side of the underpass. j/k.
I too read some of the conspiracy books ages ago and thought that was it and someday it would all come out. But I did see the show revealing the alignment of the seats in the car as well as a few other things that made me stop and realize that there was no reason that Oswald couldn't have pulled it off. So that's where I stand on that one.
That moon thing. I didn't know until fairly recently that many think that it was all a hoax. Amazes me.
UFO's and picture orbs etc. Ughh.

What a crazy world
by joannadandy inso here is my story, i find it exceedingly funny for some reason - and just proves what a tangled ordeal we're left with even after having been gone for years and years.
ok ordeal is probably too strong a word for this situation - but tangled none-the-less.. first the background: .
i am not a witness, technically never got baptized so therefore my family has a loophole to still talk to memy father was an elder he stepped down when i was like 8 or 9 because as he said, "i am in no way trained or equipped to deal with these people's problems"i'm getting married in septemberthe wedding is going to be in my jw parents backyard and i am marrying a worldly man - who despite this they have learned to like anyway.

BBQ Advice
by Peppermint infor many years i have held bbq's in derision.
i am not one for social norms and have a general fear of succumbing to pleasant suburban society.
maybe i harbour this dislike because a jw once told me that he imagines the new system as a never ending bbq.

I've only recently started doing the grill thing but I'm liking it. Only heard of the chimney device a couple of days ago - have to see about acquiring one of those. Anyways, just saying thanks for the tips on here. Tomorrow is looking like a grill day. :)

What was wrong with the 'occultic green' bibles?
by Gill inwhat was wrong with the 'green bible'?.
i understand (rightly or wrongly) that the 'green' had occult connotations that some did not approve of.. is this true and were the early jws too involved with hidden, esoteric, occult meaning that 'others' found uncomfortable and so they had to go to the sobre black bibles?.

I heard it the same as OhioCowboy. Green symbolized life, black symbolized death. Don'tcha remember all the no black shirts stuff too. The burgundy bible was an acceptable alternative to green. It's like they had a color code system in place. Hell, it wasn't LIKE they did...THEY DID! The more I remember the more frickin' loony it all is.

Unique but accurate observation about KHs from a "woldly" person
by Lady Zombie ini was out this weekend with a group of my "worldly" friends.
the majority of them don't know that i'd been a witness in the past, nor did they know that my family still is.. i'm not sure how we got on the subject of religions, but one guy asked, "what's the name of those people who don't have windows in their churches?".
several guesses were thrown out including amish and mennonites but he shook his head.

I remember a hall that had windows. Well, those obscured glass block windows anyway. Kind of fitting really - you always get light coming in but you can't really make out the source. I'm just saying...

Serena Williams and her "god jehovah"
by worf inafter losing the wimbledon championship to her sister venus, serena williams was being interviewed on the court yesterday, and here is part of what she said: "i thank my god jehovah for being out here".. okay, so according to her words, jehovah blessed her by allowing her to be there to participate in a competitive sports championship match.
and not just any match.
wimbledon!

I also say they should thank the governing body for allowing them to compete. It's they who run the show after all.

This board is so surreal...
by zeroday inhaving been a jehovah's witness for 28 years any and everyone here could have been in my congregation with no thought of discent...and yet here we all are here...some time in our past we realized something was wrong with our belief system but you would have never known it with the ones you shared your beliefs with...i never dreamed i would ever leave much less find a community struggling with the same issues i did but we did and are all here...kind of surreal in a strange way...who would have known...

The year the end finally came: the YEAR OF THE BIG LIE
by Terry inyou have to understand three things to comprehend the significance of 1975.. 1975 was the end of the watchtower society as we who lived in the 50's and 60's once knew it.
it would forever change because it was exposed for all the world to see as a group of liars and deceived dupes.. it all began with a baptist farmer named william miller who sat down with only his bible and a concordance and a crackpot idea that a .
a "day for a year" and the gentile times meant something profound which would effect his own day and time.

Having lived through the '75 debacle it is easy to understand that that had to be exactly the same build-up / let-down that was experienced in 1914, 1918, 1925 and to some extent 1945 when WWII ended without THE END. Something about history repeating itself comes to mind. It's all there in the old books but remember that those that don't learn from the past.... Take note current believers. Take note.
Or, to put it in a nasty dog / funky king ZZ Top perspective;
Don't laugh 'cause it ain't funny.
Look how it happened to me.
It could happen to you, you could be a fool too
And it'd leave you in misery. -

I always loved the early Top. Even when it was the current Top. Now it's the ancient Top.
Oh, Flipper...there is only one guitarist in ZZ Top. Bass doesn't really count as a "guitarist". Call me a nitpicker :)
